Meet Alan Holt

Alan Holt has been a full-time Realtor for almost thirty years and to date has closed almost half a billion dollars in real estate transactions. For the past twenty-five years, Holt has specialized in condominium development and sales in downtown Austin, spearheading the sales and marketing campaigns for some of Austin best-known downtown condominium developments, from the pioneering Brazos Lofts and Plaza on Republic Square to the more recent Four Seasons Residences. Holt has managed condominium development sales and marketing campaigns in both Austin and San Antonio, and has the distinction of selling out every project he has worked on.

Holt has also represented numerous commercial clients, brokering development sites and commercial buildings as well as representing landlords in leasing multi-tenant office and retail properties. But his specialty remains urban condominium development, brokerage and consulting. More recently, he has turned his focus to representing individual clients selling residential properties in downtown and central Austin.


After earning his BA in English from Texas State University, Holt entered the real estate business in Austin in 1993. In 1997, Holt was hired by an Austin development firm, The Sutton Company (and later as Plaza Partners), as part of the team developing condominiums in downtown Austin. Holt was hired to head up sales and marketing. After the successful sellout of their first project, Brazos Lofts, Holt was promoted to vice president. In addition to managing the sales and marketing campaign, Holt’s development responsibilities were expanded to include oversight of interior architectural design and construction and legal formation of the condominium, contract documents and HOA set up. Holt managed all facets of the sales process from sales through construction and move in, and including handling contract negotiations, financing and closing coordination and punchlist/walk-throughs.

Over the course of seven years, the development group developed and sold out three condominium developments in downtown Austin.

Holt went on to manage projects for other development groups downtown, including serving as the director of sales and marketing of The 5FiftyFive at the Hilton Downtown condominiums, at the time the largest condominium development to date in downtown Austin. Holt managed a team of nine staff members over the three-year project, including sales, marketing and construction liaison responsibilities.

In 2011, Holt was tapped by Post Properties as the director of sales and marketing for the recently completed Four Seasons Residences. At the time, construction of the project was recently completed and approximately half sold. Working closely with the Four Seasons management team, Holt revamped the condominium marketing campaign and changed the sales and customer experience approach, including incorporating new processes for buyer closing/walk-through/move-in to enhance overall customer satisfaction. As a result, the project sold out a year ahead of projections and added over $5mil to pro-forma sales over the course of Holt’s tenure.

More recently, Holt also managed the turnaround of a condominium project in San Antonio, the Steel House Lofts, a conversion of an old steel mill warehouse just south of downtown. After struggling for two-plus years to gain traction in the marketplace, the developers engaged Holt as a consultant to turnaround the project. Shortly after, Holt took over management of the sales and marketing campaign. Managing the project remotely from Austin, he revamped the sales and marketing approach and installed a new onsite sales team, and sold out the project within six months. Holt has managed the onsite sales teams and marketing campaigns for a variety of condominium development projects at all stages including pre-development, construction and close-out.

Over the course of his career, Holt has gained extensive experience and expertise as a turnaround specialist in distressed situations and down markets. In addition to sales and marketing and condominium development and commercial brokerage, Holt also has extensive construction management experience, both in high-rise condominium construction and single-family home construction and remodeling, including as the owner and operator a construction company specializing in residential construction.

Holt continues to maintain a strong relationship with Four Seasons Residences Austin downtown and handles the sale of many individual units there. In addition to representing residential clients, Holt is currently developing a small residential enclave in historic downtown Buda.

In his off time, Holt enjoys running the Town Lake trail, reading great books, traveling and theatre. He is a board member of Hyde Park Theatre. Holt holds a BA in English from Texas State university and has been a Texas real estate broker since 1997. He is a broker-associate with Compass Real Estate.
